Every day we see many pigeons around our house, around our workplace, many places on the street, but have you ever wondered why we never see a Baby Pigeon? This led me ask the question, Why Don't we ever see Baby Pigeons, only adult pigeons? My Cousin who is an Animal and an overall wildlife expert told me that we only see the adult pigeons as the younger babies will always stay in the nests and the parent pigeons go in search of food and bring it to the babies as well.
He said this is the case in all birds such as Crows, Eagles, vultures, macaws and parrots as they young ones would not be able to survive in the wild on their own if they got out of their Nests.
He said that sometimes even when some unfortunate chick falls out of its nest, its survival chance is absolutely zero, this is because they do not have the ability to fly yet and hence cannot escape from wild predators and other birds.Same goes in the case of Pigeons, the babies stay in the nest hidden from other creatures until they are ready to come out and live life on their own.
My cousin also told me that, the baby pigeons, when they become older, they still keep in contact with their mothers and fathers just like us humans do, Are they not just Awesome?
